My Recent Experience with Lomi Lomi
When I took my last class in Hawaiian Temple Lomi Lomi, we arranged about 15 massage tables in a circle. We created a "sacred space" in which we performed sacred Hawaiian temple massage strokes on one another. Every 15 minutes, we proceeded to the next table without interrupting the sacred touch. The collective wisdom of all participants; the creative healing massage techniques possessed by my fellow students; the rhythmic music; the beautiful ancient chants intoned by my instructor... each of these elements combined created a powerful environment of deep nurturing and healing which I cannot express adequately in words. It became clear to me that I would be inspired to learn more about Hawaiian Massage in the near future since it has a shamanistic aspect to it, which I deeply enjoy. With this in mind, I am looking forward to working with you from this deep inner space, in which I am in touch with YOU and MYSELF, as ONE ancient people (which we all are), ONE in spirit and with the greater universe.
Quote, "In the temples of ancient Hawaii, the Kahuna, or Hawaiian Shaman, practiced a unique lineage of Lomi Lomi known as Ke Ala Hoku, "Pathway to the Stars," or Hawaiian Temple Bodywork.
Through a sacred ritual that incorporates fire, drumming, chanting, and shamanic movement, the Kahuna would call on the wisdom of their ancestry and request a vision in order to enable them to know who was next to receive this sacred rite of passage.
Hawaiian Temple Bodywork is designed to awaken and enlighten the being in the physical body: to awaken an individual's true calling in life and to provide a space for one to receive visions and undergo transformation. In the ancient temples, the initiate would be the recipient of this work for between ten hours and fifteen days, continuously performed by multiple practitioners. Since this time, the practice has undergone changes, yet, the original intention remains the same" (Tom Cochran and Donna Jason).
Lomi Lomi is a flowing, nurturing, and deep form of Hawaiian massage. This sacred practice incorporates movement, breath-work, dance, self-care, and the power of intention and presence. The flowing, nurturing, breath-inspired dance of this ancient art helps me to experience deeper levels of healing. One of the principles of sacred healing and creating a sacred space for the client is the integration of healing music and quality oils into a session. I treat YOU exactly the way I would wish to be treated when I seek a massage session from another practitioner. With this loving and open attitude in mind, I shall be anticipating your arrival. Aloha, YOU are most welcome!
